Masina Funeral Service

Stage 02 · During mourning

Live streaming

Families are spread across the country and across the world. When someone cannot travel to be at the funeral, we bring the funeral to them, a live stream so they can be part of the day.

The service, streamed live

We set up a camera and a stable connection at the service and stream it live, so family working in another province, or living abroad, can watch in real time. They see the service, hear the tributes, and grieve with everyone else, even from far away.

How it works

  • We agree beforehand who needs the link and how they will watch, usually a private link they open on a phone or a computer, wherever they are.
  • On the day we set up discreetly, so the camera never gets in the way of the service or intrudes on the family.
  • We stream from the church or the home and, where possible, from the graveside, so the whole day is shared.

What people need in order to watch

Anyone watching only needs a phone, tablet or computer and an internet connection. We send the link in advance and explain how to open it, so that even family who are not comfortable with technology can join without stress. A younger relative can usually help an older one get set up on the day.

Recording and privacy

A funeral is a private family occasion, and we treat it that way. The stream goes only to the people the family chooses, through a private link rather than a public page. Where the family would like a recording to keep, or to send to those who missed the live stream, we can arrange that too.

Why it matters

Being unable to bury your own is one of the hardest things a person can face. A live stream cannot replace being there, but it lets people say goodbye together, at the same moment, wherever they are. Live streaming is included in several of our plans.

Making sure it works on the day

A stream is only worth it if it holds. We test the connection and the camera before the service starts, and we use our own equipment rather than relying on a borrowed phone propped against a chair. If the venue's signal is weak, we plan for it in advance so that the people watching from far away are not left staring at a frozen screen at the worst possible moment.

How we help

Tell us who needs to watch and from where, and we take care of the rest, the setup, the link, and making sure it works before the service begins.
